All children in Horizons have an individual timetable, adapted to their needs/stage of development.
This resource enables the children to be clear of the timetable of the day and what is coming next. When they have finished an activity, it is posted in the folder to enable a sense of achievement.
This reduces anxiety and shows clear expectations.
Every morning we start our day by discussing how we are feeling. This is then repeated after lunch, ready for the afternoon.
This is an important part of the day as we can address things before they could potentially escalate.
Staff and children take it in turns to choose an image that represents their feelings and we each hang it on our ‘Feelings Tree’.
We spend lots of time in Horizons focusing on feelings and support our children in managing their emotions in a positive way.
